2024 - High Alpine Adventure IV

Another week in the CO backcountry.

  • Summited Tabeguache Peak.
  • Summited Mt. Antero. On the way down we glissaded east off the ridge before the summit and got to see some cool mineral deposits and old mines while hiking along the back roads.
  • Attempted Snowmass Mountain for the second time. We left this summit for last thinking it would be a fitting end to the trip but unfortunately the wear and tear of the preceding days led us to only explore up to the top of the talus slope. Next time...

Gannett Peak, WY

We summited the Wyoming high point, Gannett Peak, in a five day, 60 mile adventure with 11,000 feet of elevation gain. Summit day more than made up for the brutal four days of round trip backpacking.

2022 - High Alpine Adventure II

We spent one week in the CO backcountry.

  • Climbed the snow chute of The Citadel.
  • Attempted Snowmass Mountain but decided to turn back at the lake after unexpected events left us feeling unfortunately risk-averse. Sometimes your headspace needs to be just right.
  • Summited Mt. Massive and Misery Missouri Mountain (that summit ridge is beautiful and long) in day trips.

Snowmass Lake at sunset. Snowmass Peak is in the foreground and Snowmass Mountain is the center peak of the ridge at center right. Pictures cannot capture the massive scale of these granite cliffs. The mountain absolutely towers over the lake - awful, in the truest sense of the word.

2021 - High Alpine Adventure I

My intro to backpacking involved a three day summit trip of the Colorado 13er, Mt. Powell.
